Click here for Italian translationOur people are prepared to rise up against the occupation and its crimes, including the annexation wall, land confiscation, settlements and home demolitions, said Comrade Abu Ahmad Fuad, member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Furthermore, said Comrade Fuad, despite the massacres and devastation committed against our people in the Gaza Strip, one year on, the occupation failed to achieve its goals in its aggression on Gaza. "The heroic steadfastness of the Palestinian people, confronting with bare chests the high-tech weaponry of the enemy and its support from the United States, is known around the world."
Comrade Fuad stressed that our people and their resistance prevented the occupation from attaining their political and military objectives in Gaza, and in practice this steadfastness in the face of the occupation forces, despite the severe costs, was a victory for the Palestinian people's resistance. He added that the depth of the crimes committed against our people indicate that our people will never kneel before the occupation and will persist in resistance.
He emphasized that the national goals of our people will be achieved by resistance and steadfastness, saying that all of the conspiracies that have taken place against the Palestinian people and their rights also failed, despite the killings and displacement of our people. Said Comrade Fuad, "The enemy wanted our submission to their conditions and our rights to be handed over willingly to the occupation, but it failed, as did the U.S. and the Quartet, in imposing submission upon our people. This happened because of the resistance and the steadfastness of our people at home and abroad."
Comrade Fuad said that he is confident that the Palestinian people will achieve its goals of independence and self-determination, and its strategic goal of the liberation of all Palestinian national soil. He said that it is our duty to restore national unity and heal the division on the basis of sound national principles - for the liberation of Palestine and its capital, Jerusalem, and the return of all refugees to their homes of origin - with no concessions, and on the basis of resistance.
He reiterated that we are one people, united and steadfast, despite the siege and oppression, and will always stand united to confront the crimes of the occupier.
Comrade Jamil Majdalawi, member of the Political Bureau of the PFLP, also emphasized the call for Palestinian national unity, saying that internal division must be ended in order to fully confront the enemy's attacks and that our people are counting on national unity to support their steadfastness.
He praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of the occupation siege, describing the rubble of homes that cannot be rebuilt and holes in the streets due to lack of cement and construction materials, scarcities of medicines and prescription drugs, water contamination, and an absence of fertilizer for agriculture, saying that the occupation's crimes continue to have long-lasting effects on our people's health and environment.
A lack of political will is to be blamed for the ongoing division, said Comrade Jamil Mizher, member of the Central Committee of the PFLP. He called on Hamas and Fateh to meet and end the division and together call on countries and international agencies who pledged aid to Gaza to follow through on their promises and provide the necessary goods and money for rebuilding.
Comrade Mizher also emphasized the importance of the resistance, noting the recent occupation murders of 6 people in the West Bank and Gaza on December 25, 2009, saying the occupation needs no pretext to commit crimes against our people, but our people need resistance forces to defend against such attacks. He called for a united resistance front to build the effectiveness of our resistance, alleviate the suffering of our people, and most effectively free our land of occupation.
