Click here for Italian translationPalestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' (Abu Mazen) decision to not stand for re-election is a reflection of his failure and the failure of the Oslo "peace process" that he represents, said Comrade Dr. Maher al-Taher, member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and leader of its branch in exile.
Comrade Taher said in an interview with Al-Jazeera on November 5, 2009, that Abu Mazen, in his decision to not run again, must face the facts that there is no future in the Oslo process other than the complete liquidation of the Palestinian cause. Comrade Taher emphasized that Abu Mazen is the man who signed the Oslo agreement in 1993 and has continually perpetuated the deception of the Oslo "peace process" against the Palestinian people while the Zionists continue their occupation, wars, settlement, and complete denial of Palestinian national rights.
He said that Abu Mazen has emphasized his belief in the bankrupt Oslo process time and again, for sixteen years, and his decision to not run again is a reflection of the complete and utter failure of the Oslo process, and that of Abu Mazen as its representative. Comrade Taher said that, from the beginning of the Oslo process, the PFLP has insisted that this road will never lead to achieving Palestinian national rights and only to the subjugation of the Palestinian people, saying that it is intended as a liquidation of the Palestinian cause, as Israel has no interest in "peace" and the United States is not a mediator or a broker, but a strategic ally of Zionism that is entirely hostile to Palestinian and Arab interests and rights.
