In response to the meeting in Washington, DC between occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine emphasized that there can be no reliance on U.S. imperialism, a strategic ally of the occupation state, by any Palestinian party, and that any illusions about the Obama administration must be discarded once and for all.

In the meeting, which took place on Monday, November 9, 2009, Obama proudly met the criminal racist Netanyahu as well as a series of other war criminals, including Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Ambassador Michael Oren, National Security Council chief Uzi Arad, and Yitzhak Molcho, Netanyahu’s personal envoy to talks in Washington, affirming the strength of their relationship and the US commitment to "Israeli security." This meeting with Netanyahu and profession of ongoing and proud support for the war on the Palestinian people came hand in hand with Obama's declaration that he would send 40,000 additional U.S. troops in an attempt to shore up the occupation of Afghanistan in the face of Afghani resistance and maintain the puppet government of Hamid Karzai.

Coming brief weeks after joint military exercises, the White House praised the meeting for its plans for "joint security initiatives," which only mean threats to the Palestinian and Arab people and the entire region, from these occupiers.

Comrade Khalida Jarrar, member of the Political Bureau of the PFLP, said in an interview with Jerusalem News that "There is no change in the Obama era in regard to U.S. policy toward the Palestinian people." She noted that despite any reports of differences between Netanyahu and the Obama administration, they are in continuous coordination and communication, and have made clear that their strategic alliance is firmly intact. Furthermore, she said, "If the United States actually opposes the settlement policy, they would have taken action to stop it. Instead, they exercised no pressure on Netanyahu to alter Israeli policy in any way," noting that these "differences" appeared instead to be mere public relations stunts to promote illusions about the U.S. role among Palestinians and Arabs, saying that in reality, coordination between the U.S. and the occupation state has only been strengthened.

Comrade Jarrar explained that a change of presidents does not change the nature of U.S. imperialism or its strategies of support for Israel in the region, and all should reject U.S. propaganda that seeks to gain the trust of people in the region and expand U.S. projects and influence.

Furthermore, in an interview with the Voice of the People radio station in Gaza, Comrade Jarrar said that it is imperative that Palestinians cast aside all reliance on illusions about the United States, and instead demand that the world and the United Nations uphold their responsibilities to enforce Palestinian rights.

She demanded an immediate end to the so-called "negotiating process" championed by the United States, saying that such a process is only about providing legitimacy to the occupier while it continues its crimes against our people. She called for a review of past experience, and for a united national strategy of resistance that "restores to the national liberation movement its essence - the relationship between the occupier and the occupied people's struggle for freedom," calling for popular and armed resistance to confront the occupier, the total rejection of normalization, and actions to crystallize and focus the many efforts of international solidarity and popular movements in support of our people, saying that the international power of the people, unlike that of the official "international community," is capable of great action to defend the Palestinian people.
