PFLP plans for its 42nd anniversary with public meetings in Gaza
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine organized a series of public meetings in Jabalya and Beit Hanoun as part of the preparations across the Gaza Strip for marking the 42nd anniversary of the PFLP under the slogan of "Unity, Steadfastness and Resistance Towards Victory," which will be celebrated on December 11, 2009.
At the first meeting in Jabalya, on November 22, 2009, Comrade Sami Abu Sultan, of the National Democratic Alliance in northern Gaza, stressed the importance of the Front in seeking restoration of national unity and continuing the resistance, calling for steadfastness to confront the ongoing Zionist attacks on our people. Comrade Hussein al-Jamal emphasized the importance of the celebrations of the 42nd anniversary as it comes at a time of siege and division, and Zionist attacks on our people, when it is necessary for the Front to take a bigger role to defend the concerns of the popular classes and the Palestinian masses.
Later, a large group of youth gathered in a meeting with PFLP leaders, reviewing political developments and stressing the difficult situation confronting our people at this stage. Comrade Ibrahim Sultan spoke, emphasizing the slogan for the anniversary - steadfastness, resistance and unity towards victory - and the need for programs that build unity, strengthen the steadfastness of our people and uphold the resistance.
At another meeting, PFLP Central Committee member Abu Yahya Suleiman met with elders and Palestinian national movement veterans, emphasizing that the historic legacy of the Front will continue in this year's commemorations.
A meeting also took place in Beit Hanoun, on November 24, 2009, led by the Front and the Organization of the Martyr Fayez Za'anin with the Women's Association, with Comrade Iktimal Hamad, a member of the Central Committee of the PFLP, and Comrade Luay Za'anin, and many other comrades in the region.
Comrade Hamad emphasized that this meeting came to prepare to commemorate the 42nd anniversary by mobilizing the largest number of supporters and comrades to participate in the events, and particularly focused on the importance of women's role in these events.
She praised the role of the Organization of the Martyr Fayez Za'anin for its active involvement in all activities. For his part, Comrade Luay Za'anin discussed the organization's upcoming campaign to promote the role, history and current importance of the Front in commemoration of its 42nd anniversary.
