Under the slogan of "The heritage and memory of our just cause," the Progressive Student Action Front at Al-Aqsa University - Khan Younis Branch held a two-day exhibition of Naji al-Ali caricatures, traditional and national Palestinian songs and poems and video displays on October 18-19, 2009.
The PSAF held the event to mark the 42nd anniversary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which was founded on December 11, 1967. The dean of student affairs at the university, Dr. Abdel Raouf Talla, as well as national figures and many students, attended the exhibition, focusing on Palestinian national identity, heritage, and culture.
Comrade Tariq Muammar spoke, thanking the university for its support for the exhibition and encouraging student activities to enhance and preserve Palestinian national culture and identity.
A delegation from the PFLP visited the exhibition, including the branch leader, Comrade Mohammad Saqqa, and members of the Central Committee, including Comrade Yahya al-Ghalban and Comrade Abu Jihad Shahin. Comrade Abu Numan Jiab, of the national leadership of the Progressive Student Action Front, attended the exhibition.
Comrade Saqqa praised the leading role of students in the Palestinian national movement, and their role in establishing and carrying on national values, customs and traditions, as well as sound scientific concepts and progressive thinking. He praised the role of the PSAF, the student council and the student body for the successful exhibition.
A large number of students and faculty visited the exhibition, including a substantial delegation from the Faculty of Arts and the Arabic Language Department.
The PSAF at Al-Aqsa University called at the end of the exhibition for greater student involvement in the 42nd anniversary events of the PFLP and in the Palestinian national movement, praising the role of the Front as the party of the popular classes, the poor, working people, and intellectuals.
