David Rovics, a well-known progressive U.S. singer-songwriter, denounced the listing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and other national liberation movements on so-called "anti-terrorism" lists on August 1, 2010 as he planned to participate in a New Zealand concert supporting Palestine and protesting the designation of the PFLP on such lists.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine salutes the efforts of the Danish comrades in Opror (Rebellion) and Fighters + Lovers to challenge so-called "anti-terror" laws and defend the right to support national liberation movements. We salute Patrick Mac Manus and all those who struggle around the world in solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian people and all oppressed peoples and call upon all to emulate this example of courageous defiance and solidarity in the face of injustice and oppression.
Update as of September 19, 2008: The Danish appeals court convicted six of the "Fighters + Lovers" activists on September 18, 2008, overturning their lower-court acquittal. The lower court found that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine were not "terrorist organizations" under the law; the higher court, however, ruled that both were "terrorist groups" under the law, convicting the activists and confiscating the money they raised.
